Welcome to the first official post to the new web site.

The purpose of this new site is to provide information and  news updates on the program’s valuable work that they do on the island of Sumba, located in West Timor.

This will be the 8th year that the program has been in operation with volunteers visiting this remote region to provide eye care to the local communities.

A group of 4 Optometrists and one Ophthalmic surgeon will be visiting again in May to continue to train local nurses from the Sumba Foundation  and one nurse from the Sumba Eye Program (SEP).

The group will consist of regulars Peter Stewart OAM and Peter Lewis OAM.

Chris  Katopodis  will return for his second visit and  new comer  Mrs Janine Hobson will join them for her first visit.

Dr Mark Ellis AM  will join them mid way after lecturing at Makassar University in South Sulawesi Indonesia.

There will be updates on their journey and valuable work.
